A post-doctoral fellowship position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jeffery Klco in the Department of Pathology at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital to study the development of myeloid tumors in children. In particular, we are interested in the mutations that result in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). The experimental models include genetically-modified mice and primary hematopoietic cells, both derived from these mice and from humans, as well as in vitro systems to explore signaling, cell death, and transcriptional regulation. Moreover, we complement these strategies with xenotransplantation approaches and genomic technologies, including RNA-seq, whole exome sequencing and various targeted sequencing modalities. The goal of these studies is to ultimately improve the outcome of children with AML and MDS through a better understanding of the disease pathogenesis.
