A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available to study genomics and pharmacogenomics of childhood leukemia. Our laboratory is a part of the National Institutes of Health Pharmacogenomics Research Network (PGRN), a nationwide consortium of research programs focusing on the genetic basis of inter-patient variability in drug response and clinical implementation of genetics-based treatment individualization. Using state-of-the-art genomic tools (expression and SNP arrays, next-generation sequencing), we are interested in identifying both inherited and tumor genetic variations (e.g. single nucleotide polymorphisms, copy number variations, and gene expression) related to leukemia susceptibility and treatment response (JAMA 2009;30:393; Nat Genet 2011 43:237; Nat Genet 2013 45:290; Nat Genet 2013 45:1494, J Clin Oncol 2015 33:1235; Lancet Oncol 2015 16:1659, Nat Genet 2016 48:367,). Functional and mechanistic studies utilizing preclinical models (cell culture and animal model) and clinical samples are critical components of the highly translational research program in this laboratory.

We are seeking ambitious postdoctoral fellows with a track record of productivity and strong interest in translational cancer research. Applicants should have a recent doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or combined degrees). With a general background in experimental hematology and/or leukemia biology, the ideal candidate would have documented expertise in next-generation sequencing data analyses (e.g., whole genome, whole exome, RNA-seq, and ChIP seq) and broad skills in bioinformatics and computation biology.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders. The hospital’s mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude is dedicated to providing unsurpassed patient care and to advancing the health of children through biomedical research.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a brief research statement, and the names and contact information of 3 references.
